Gertrude has a degree in Community Resource Management from Kenyatta University and a certificate in Climate Governance, Diplomacy and Negotiation Leadership from African Group of Negotiators Experts Support (AGNES)
Gertrude’s work ranges from grassroots mobilization, county-level policy advocacy, and global engagements. She has a keen interest in equitable and accessible climate finance models and therefore advocates for sustainable, inclusive, non-debt and long-term climate financing. Her efforts ensure financial flows directly benefit grassroots communities, particularly women and marginalized groups, while promoting gender-transformative climate solutions.
Gertrude’s regional and global contributions include active participation in African Climate Summit and UNFCCC processes like the Subsidiary Body for Implementation and COPs. She also collaborates with the African Women and Gender Constituency and YOUNGO to advocate for gender justice in climate governance.
Her vision is to champion women’s leadership and locally-led climate action at all levels of governance, ensuring inclusivity and sustainability in climate solutions.
