Vision

A world in which women and girls realize and embrace their rights

Mission

To advance women and girl’s social, economic and civic rights.

About Us

Women's Empowerment Link

Our carefully designed, evidence-based interventions benefit women and girls, their families, broader communities, local constituents, and the nation as a whole.

Established in 2007, the Women’s Empowerment Link (WEL) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, and non-governmental organization dedicated to women’s rights. We empower women and girls to reach their full potential—politically, socially, and economically—by advocating for their human and social justice rights.

WEL acknowledges that women’s survival—and that of their communities—is increasingly threatened by economic dependency, illiteracy, gender inequalities, marginalization, HIV/AIDS, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), conflicts, and inadequate laws and policies.

Over the years, WEL has directly and indirectly impacted over 100,000 women and their families. Our carefully designed evidence-based interventions benefit women and girls, their families, broader communities, local constituents and the nation as a whole.

What we do

Our strategic focus

Research

WEL embraces a wealth of knowledge that drives evidence-based interventions in transformative leadership, the elimination of violence against women and girls, climate justice, economic empowerment, and institutional strengthening.

Additionally, WEL uses data to inform decision-making and improve the organization. We collect, analyze and share information on our impact and key characteristics.

Community Education

WEL identifies needs and tailors curriculums to support the skills and capabilities of grassroots women and key stakeholders, fostering sustainable development.

Capacity Building

Internally, WEL works with a team that is well-resourced, motivated, and skilled to deliver their mandate.

Externally, WEL identifies and analyzes gaps within women-led grassroots institutions and initiates a process of institutional strengthening to enhance their capacity for community mobilization, fundraising, and advocacy, ensuring better access to community-led resources.

 Male Engagement

We mobilize boys and men as champions and equip them with the capacity to support in promoting gender equity and inclusion.

Knowledge and Learning

WEL integrates face-to-face and digital learning platforms to support peer learning and provide communities with customizable educational content. This content is tailored to accommodate varying literacy levels and learning needs. We embrace learning as a vehicle that empowers change. We operate with the firm belief that knowledge should not be exclusive—every woman and girl has the right to learn, create, and thrive.
