The Power of Equality

The Power of Equality project aims to empower human rights educators and defenders (HREDs) to promote and protect women’s rights and gender equality. Through an equitable partnership between Women’s Empowerment Link (Kenya), Tusonge Community Development Organization (Tanzania), Mouvement Burkinabè des Droits de l’Homme et des Peuples (Burkina Faso), and Equitas (Canada), this two-year project will strengthen the leadership and capacity of HREDs to design and deliver impactful human rights education programs that challenge gender inequality.

Key activities include conducting needs assessments, developing inclusive governance structures, co-creating educational content, and delivering regional human rights training programs. The project will also establish a community-led monitoring and evaluation mechanism, promote community mobilization, and document best practices from south-south collaboration.

In Kenya, the project focuses on Chepalungu and Bomet East sub-counties in Bomet County, building on previous successes. The initiative will directly engage 4,338 participants globally, with 19,760 people benefiting from advocacy campaigns.

Through this effort, we aim to create lasting impact by empowering local communities to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights.
