IT Support Officer

WEL

The IT Support Officer will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation, maintenance, and security of WEL’s information technology systems. The role provides day-to-day technical support to staff, supports programmatic and administrative operations through reliable IT services, and ensures compliance with organizational policies, data protection standards, and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
The IT Support Officer will provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems to enable efficient and secure organizational performance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely first- and second-level IT support by troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining computers, printers, and other office IT equipment.
  • Supporting staff in the effective use of email systems, office applications, and collaboration tools.
  • Managing user access by setting up accounts for new staff and disabling access during exit processes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining office networks, internet connectivity, and shared systems.
  • Performing routine system updates, antivirus checks, and basic cybersecurity measures.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Relevant IT certifications are an added advantage.
  • At least 2–3 years of demonstrable experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, preferably within an NGO environment
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, Windows operating systems, and office productivity applications
  • Demonstrable experience supporting Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar platforms
  • Basic understanding of networking, internet connectivity, and troubleshooting
