Women’s Empowerment Link (WEL) is at the forefront of addressing violence against women and girls, advocating for systemic changes to ensure their safety and dignity. Our mission is to create a society where women and girls thrive without the fear of violence. We are currently looking for a passionate Advocacy Officer to lead efforts in this critical area.
Key Responsibilities: As the Advocacy Officer, you will be instrumental in driving impactful campaigns and fostering collaborations to prevent and address Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). Your role will include:
Mobilizing and strengthening networks, referral mechanisms, and community resources to respond effectively to VAWG.
Leading advocacy efforts for the full implementation of laws such as the Sexual Offenses Act, Anti-FGM Act, and Domestic Violence Act.
Coordinating education and awareness initiatives, including anti-FGM campaigns and early marriage prevention programs.
Collaborating with stakeholders to provide survivors with psychosocial and legal support and ensuring access to safe spaces.
Engaging with media and community leaders to challenge harmful norms and promote gender equality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Law, Gender Studies, or a related discipline.
At least 3 years of experience in advocacy, community mobilization, or program implementation in gender-focused roles.
Strong understanding of gender-based violence issues and relevant legal frameworks in Kenya.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
