WEL is a non-profit, nonpartisan, and non-governmental organization dedicated to women’s rights. We empower women and girls to reach their full potential—politically, socially, and economically—by advocating for their human and social justice rights. WEL acknowledges that women’s survival—and that of their communities—is increasingly threatened by economic dependency, illiteracy, gender inequalities, marginalization, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), conflicts, and inadequate laws and policies.
WEL is currently looking for a dynamic, result oriented Human Resource Officer responsible for delivering an efficient and compliant recruitment and HR service across the organization.
Key Responsibilities: The HR Officer will provide administrative and operational support to the Finance and Administration Team, contributing to the effective management of human resource functions. The role supports recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, HR documentation, and compliance, ensuring alignment with WEL’s policies and Kenyan labor laws.
Manage day-to-day HR administration, including maintaining accurate employee records, contracts, and personnel files in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including job advertising, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks, and preparation of employment offers.
Support staff onboarding, offboarding, performance management processes, and probation monitoring to ensure smooth employee lifecycle management.
Coordinate staff training and development activities, maintain training records, and support capacity-building initiatives across the organization.
Serve as a focal point for employee communication and HR compliance, providing guidance on HR policies, labor laws, and internal procedures while maintaining confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Qualified to degree level in Human Resource, or Middle level qualification(s) in Human Resources; Membership of Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is added advantage
At least 3 years successful experience in a comparable role.
Demonstrated experience in applying human resources management protocols.
Good report writing skills, strong writing and communication skills and analytical abilities, particularly in the areas of learning, and capacity development/transfer.
