Ending Child Marriage (CM), Child Trafficking (CT) and Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSEC) Programme
WEL serves as an implementing partner of the Girls Advocacy Alliance, a global program aimed at ending gender-based violence (GBV) and economic exclusion of adolescent girls and young women. Through this initiative, WEL has established a network of national and regional civil society organizations (CSOs) working working to end child marriage and improve the welfare of adolescent girls and young women.
This coalition holds national governments accountable to deliver on the commitments under the Maputo Protocol, which was ratified by Kenya in 2010. The protocol ensures that women’s right to health services, including sexual and reproductive health is respected and promoted. Additionally, the network advocates for compliance with the Abuja Declaration, which commits governments to allocating at least 15% of their annual budget towards improving healthcare services.
